Greetings from Västerås

Hi everyone !!

Directly from Västerås, city of the cucumber, here you have another entry for my blog. As I promised, I'm going to write in English and Spanish, but I think you should try to read it in English, even more after the embarrassing act from our politics in the last election to the Olympic city, so make an effort, I promise that it'll be easy. And please, correct me if I make a mistake, I'm always learning ;-)

So here I am, after one year preparing, finally Sama and me arrived at Västerås the last 27 of August It's hard to explain all the first feelings about living in an new and strange city, maybe confusion and shyness are good ones but after all the activities organised by the student union and the university the feelings became happiness and trustfulness. It's amazing to see all the fadders (students volunteers from the student union) giving to you all his time to show you the university, the city, trying all the time to make us to speak among us to take confidence with the other students. So thanks a lot to all the fadders, you make my Erasmus first days easy.

In relation to the classes, are easy to follow, the teachers are not English speakers (but they speak it very well) so they try to speak to everybody can understand. There is an interesting fact in the Swedish university: "there're no stupid questions", I love this, I wish it was the same in Spain.

My partners are great, there're people from all the countries around the world: France, Finland, Czech Republic, Austria, Canada, EEUU, Tanzania, Macedonia... and also Spain of course. All of them are great people and I wish I could make an strong friendship with them, the first parties, the barbecue and the football/volley matches were a good beginning. 

Changing the topic, Västerås is a quiet and small city with a lot of green zones and a "lake" (actually is the sea, but everybody call it lake) there isn't too many noises, except from the "muscle cars" and similar  I don't know why but there is a lot of these cars here. The Swedish are nice people, everybody speak English here and if they realize that you don't know Swedish, they start to speak in English with you, even the old people, it's wonderful. I used to think that the Swedish were quiet and shy people, but a lot of Swedish people starts to speak with me in the parties, I don't know if it's because it's a party or what, I guess I'll check it in a few months.

Hola a todos directamente desde Västerås la ciudad el pepino, aquí tenéis otra entrada en el blog. Como prometí voy a escribir en inglés y español pero creo que deberíais de leer la versión inglés incluso más ahora en después de la vergonzosa actuación de nuestros políticos en la elección de la próxima ciudad olímpica, así que haced un esfuerzo , prometo que no será difícil y por favor, corregidme si cometo algún error, estoy siempre aprendiendo ;-)

Y aquí estamos, después de un año preparándolo, Sama y yo llegamos a Västerås el 27 de agosto. Es difícil de explicar las primeras sensaciones de vivir en una nueva y extraña ciudad pero quizás confusión y timidez sea una buena descripción, sin embargo, después de las actividades organizadas por la asociación de estudiantes y la universidad esos sentimientos cambiaron a felicidad y confianza. Es increíble ver a los fadders (estudiantes voluntarios de la asociación de estudiantes) dedicarte todo su tiempo para enseñarte la universidad, la ciudad y haciendo que hablemos entre nosotros para coger confianza con los demás estudiantes. Así que muchas gracias a los fadders por hacer fáciles mis primeros días aquí.

En lo que respecta a las clases, son muy fáciles de seguir, los profesores no son angloparlantes (pero hablan inglés muy bien) así que hablan para que todo el mundo pueda entenderlos. Se dice una cosa muy interesante por aquí "no hay preguntas estúpidas" me encanta este dicho, ojalá fuera igual en España.

Mis compañeros son geniales hay gente de todos los puntos del globo: Francia, Finlandia, República Checa, Austria, Canadá Estado Unidos, Tanzania, Macedonia... y por supuesto, España. Todos son gente increíble y ojalá que pueda tener una buena amistad con todo ellos, las primeras fiestas, la barbacoa y las pachangas de fútbol/voley han sido un buen comienzo.

Cambiando de tema, Västerås es una ciudad pequeña y tranquila con un montón de zonas verdes y un "lago" (en realidad es el mar, pero todo el mundo le llama lago) no hay mucho ruido, excepto por los "muscle cars" y similares, no se por qué, pero aquí hay un montón de esos coches. Los suecos son gente simpática, todo el mundo habla inglés aquí y si se dan cuenta de que no sabes sueco, inmediatamente te empiezan a hablar en inglés, incluso la gente mayor, es maravilloso. Solía pensar que los suecos eran gente tranquila y tímida, pero un montón de suecos hablan conmigo en las fiestas, no se si será solo porque estamos de fiesta, supongo que lo comprobaré en unos meses.
