Helsinki, Riga and more

Hello again pals !!

Long time no see, but I've been busy traveling, partying and also working hard of course. So many things have happend since the last entry, but as usual, I didn't have time (or I didn't feel like writing), but don't worry, I'll tell you where I'd been and what I did.

First at all, I had a couple of  trips (cruises) to Helsinki (Finland, just in case) and Riga (Latvia) on different dates but both were similar structure. We slept one night at the boat (with a little bit of party) and we spend the next day visiting both cities, and then night back to Sweden. That was my second time in Helsinki and all was as I remember: Amarillo, Tiger... XD yeah, all discos in Helsinki but also I could see the beautiful Temppeliaukio stone church. Riga was very different from Helsinki and other european cities I know, it comes from the old URSS, so many buildings have the style of the old soviet buildings that you can see in pictures from the world war II, but that now it's past and Riga its opening to the world like the freedom monument says.

Also I traveled to Lapland few days ago, but I want to speak more about it in a dedicated post here.

As you know (or you should know) the 19 of November was my birthday, so I prepared a big birthday party together with one of my best friends here (Antonio, he's Italian and his birthday is the 18) and his girlfriend (she's not living here, just visiting him and has the same birth day as Antonio). So we cooked some Spanish&Italian food for everyone (Spanish omelette and gnocchi). It was one of the best nights here surrounded by all my best friends and Silvia (she was here visiting me and she's special too XD), and for finish the night they gave me an original Game Boy with Mario Land inside, awesome!!! (now I have to rescue my old Game Boy games). Thank's all !!!!

Now that I know more about the Swedish culture, I want to tell you some differences about Sweden and Spain or just some more knowledge about Sweden.

I explained in my last entry that Swedish people were shy and quiet outside from the disco. Now that I think I know a little more about the Swedish behavior, I'm gonna try to explain it. 

The Swedish are very nice people but only in your slot time, I mean, if you have meeting with a Swedish, he's gonna give you his best smile but if you "find" (I don't know how to say it properly) him on the street he's gonna say hi and that's all. Maybe I'm wrong with this but this is my thinking. Definetely they need a bit of alcohol to socialize with unknown people.

I want to speak about the Swedish high school as well, because this morning I was lucky to visit a high school to speak about the differences between Spain and Sweden in a Spanish class. The classes have a lot of differences, here in Sweden the pupils don't use paper and pen, the have their own laptop to write all they need, however they need paper for the math classes, not all is technology here.

For finishing, I have to admit that I'm not used to eat at 12 a.m yet. I know the Spanish are the delayed compared to the rest of Europe, but if you don't have classes at 8 and you get up at 9 or 10, you have breakfast and in two hours you have to eat again, and I AM NOT HUNGRY YET. I also feel this delay each time that I want to dinner out, all places closes at 8, no later than 9. In Spain I'm used to have dinner at 10-11 p.m, so... try to guess, but I'm working on this, I hope I can at eat at 12 at the end of the Erasmus  (When I have to come back to Spain, yes).

¡¡ Hola holita bucaneros !!

Ya se que hace bastante que no nos vemos, pero he estado un poco liado viajando, de fiesta y trabajando duro por supuesto. Han ocurrido un montón de cosas desde la última entrada, pero como de costumbre no he tenido tiempo (o ganas) de escribir, pero no os preocupéis, os voy a contar donde he estado y que he hecho.

Empecemos por los cruceros. He tenido un par de ellos: a Helsinki (Finlandia) y a Riga (Letonia) en diferentes fechas pero con una estructura de viaje muy similar. Dormimos una noche en el barco (con un poquito de fiesta) y pasamos el día siguiente visitando la cuidad, y luego noche de vuelta. Esta fue mi segunda visita a Helsinki to do sigue como lo recordaba: Amarillo, Tiger... XD si, todas las discotecas de Helsinki pero también pude ver por primera vez la preciosa iglesia de piedra de Temppeliaukio. Riga es muy diferente de Helsinki y de las demás ciudades europeas que conozco. Riga viene de la antigua URSS, asi que muchos edificios tienen ese aspecto de viejos edificios soviéticos que se pueden ver en las fotos de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, pero Riga está abriéndose al mundo como demuestra el precioso Monumento a la Libertad.

También he ido a Laponia hace unos días, pero le dedicaré una entrada especial.

Como ya sabéis (o deberíais de saber) el 19 de noviembre fue mi cumple, así que preparé una gran fiesta junto con uno de mis mejores amigos aquí (Antonio, es italiano y los cumple el 18) y su novia (solo estaba de visita y los cumple el mismo día que él). Así que cocinamos comida española e italiana (tortilla de patatas y gnocchi), Fue una de las mejores noches rodeado de mis mejores amigos y de Silvia (que estaba de visita y que también es especial XD), y para terminar me regalaron una Game Boy original con Mario Land, ¡¡ increíble !!  (ahora me toca rescatar mis antiguos juegos de Game Boy). Gracias a todos!!!!

Ahora que se un poco mas acerca de la cultura sueca, me gustaría deciros algunas diferencias entre Suecia y España o simplemente algo de información acerca de Suecia.

Ya conté en mi última entrada que los suecos eran tímidos y tranquilos fuera de la discoteca. Ahora que se un poquito más acerca del comportamiento sueco, voy a intentar explicároslo.

Los suecos son gente muy agradable, pero solo si es tu turno, me explico, si has quedado con un sueco te dará la mejor de sus sonrisas, pero si te lo encuentras por los pasillos te dirá un "hola" y si eso. Quizás estoy equivocado pero es lo que me ha parecido. Sin duda, los suecos necesitan un poquito de alcohol para socializar con desconocidos.

También me gustaría hablar del instituto aquí ya que pude estar en uno para una charla acerca de las diferencias entre Suecia y España en una clase de español. Las clases son muy diferentes, aquí en Suecia los alumnos no usan papel y lápiz, cada uno tiene un portátil para escribir lo que quieran, pero para las clases de matemáticas necesitan papel, por supuesto, no todo es tecnología aquí.

Para terminar, tengo que admitir que aún no me he acostumbrado a comer a las 12 de la mañana. Se que los que estamos desfasados somos los españoles, pero si no tienes clase a las 8 y te levantas a las 9 o 10 y desayunas, en dos horas tienes que comer de nuevo y NO TENGO HAMBRE TODAVÍA. Esto también se nota a la hora de cenar. Si quiero cenar fuera, todos los sitios cierran a las 8 o 9 como tarde. En España estoy acostumbrado a cenar a las 10-11 p.m así que... adivina. Pero estoy trabajando en ello, espero haberme acostumbrado a comer a las 12 al final del Erasmus (cuando tenga que volver a España, si).

Y esto es todo por hoy, prometo, no se cuando, escribir sobre Laponia probablemente en enero. ¡¡ Seguid conectados y gracias por leerme !!
